On Friday the 1st of September we celebrated Father’s Day at Aurora Early Education. It was great to see most of our dads and granddads joining us for afternoon tea. The children were very excited to share their learning and environment with their special person.
The children were very lucky to share a photo with their special person sitting in a 1960 Bugeye car, that we managed to park in our play yard!

Indika read “I love my dad” and “All the little fathers” to the group. Then the children sang the“Fire Fighter” song and “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” in English and in Mandarin.

The children then presented their father’s or special people with a hand made present; a business card holder saying “I love you” with a hug.

Then it was time to build a “Geometric board”. Each child worked with their special visitor to take turns to hammer the nails into the wood. Then they created patterns on the board using rubber bands. Afterwards they had a picnic outdoors enjoying crackers, cheese and veggies together.

Observance of Father’s Day makes our father figures in all of our families feel that their contributions are acknowledged by the Aurora Community and also by their children. This also helps the children build stronger relationships and bonds with their family members.

We will continue to provide opportunities for family involvement to encourage a sense of Belonging for our children at Aurora.
