This week the children made Thank You cards for various helpers as part of Community Helper Appreciation.
The children came up with a list of important people in the community that they wanted to make cards for: Fireman, Police, Librarian, Postman, Garbage man, Maintenance person, Milk Bar lady and so on.
A lot of time and care was taken to make beautiful expressive and creative cards to show our appreciation of the help these people provide to the community. A box of chocolates was also purchased to give along with each card.
We were lucky enough to have a surprise visit from the Fireman as a thank you for their gifts!
It is important for children to understand that there are lots of significant people who all assist in helping a community to run effectively. Children also shared experiences they may have had with various community helpers.
