It is so beautiful to witness the caring children in our multi-age learning environment interacting with each other in meaningful and supportive ways. One of our gorgeous older children in the room decided to teach one of our younger ones some words. She introduced herself and then she rocked the baby and started singing the ABC song. One of the educators then joined in the singing which sparked the interest of others within the room. They all then enjoyed singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star together! The children develop their language through songs and learn to show compassion and empathy when helping to care for the younger babies within the room. Educators will continue to encourage this interaction and offer more opportunities for learning through experiences within the environment.
Another caring child within Seamist Studio has been mimicking the educators care of the babies within the room. She has started playing with dolls and often copies the actions of educators when they look after babies. This shows she is developing an understanding of the world around her and how different people interact with each other. Children often learn meaningfully though play, as they observe their surroundings and copy behaviours and actions of adults around them.
