To celebrate National Tree Day today, children in Seamist Studio participated in a planting experience. Each of the children was given a Broad Bean plant to place into a biodegradable pot and, after topping up the soil, each child was encouraged to water their plant and write their name on the label which was placed in the pot.
This was a teacher guided experience; a teacher facilitates the activity and possibly teaches some children a concept or skill they have not encountered before. For those children that were familiar with planting and gardening, their knowledge and skills were consolidated by assisting and mentoring the other children.
The sun was out and the weather was perfect for the activity. As the children were picked up they were super excited to show their parents their very own little plant….hopefully this may encourage them to eat their beans at home!
