In Seamist Studio this week the children have been making hand-prints into spooky spiders for their Halloween display!
The children are always involved in creating masterpieces for the room displays; it’s wonderful to hear their thoughts and suggestions regarding art activities to be involved in.
Making hand-prints is a fantastic sensory experience. Some children love the feel of the cold, sticky paint on their hands and will often enjoy playing with it for a while before washing it off. Sensory experiences are calming and, as well as enjoying the art experience process, an end goal to work towards allows a child’s creative side to be explored and supported.
Some children do not enjoy getting dirty or being involved in messy art experiences. Often these children like other forms of sensory play such as visually stimulating experiences, different textured resources or sounds
