Almost every child has a teddy bear and most are guaranteed to go through an intense attachment phase; when the child insists on taking their teddy bear with them everywhere they go. It’s an extensively researched attachment; teddy bears help children build self-confidence, soothe anxiety and fear and ease stress caused by unfamiliar situations.

This weekend the Rippon Lea Estate is giving your child the perfect place to take their teddies; the Teddy Bears’ Picnic 2019. The picnic will be spread across the historical estate, which is under the care of the National Trust of Australia.

There will be an exciting range of activities and adventures for your little ones; through the day there will be Punch & Judy shows in the historical ballroom and magic shows and band performances on the central lawn. There will also be other child favourites like pony rides, face painting, jumping castles, a soft play area and even a vintage carnival. The Rippon lea estate teddy bear will be wandering through the Picnic, taking photos with his fans and adding to the general merriment and cheer.

The highlight of the afternoon will be the massive Teddy Bear parade, where your child can bring along their favourite teddy bear and watch with pride as it is featured in the parade! The best teddy bears will be awarded some fun prizes.

The Picnic will also have market stalls, refreshments for sale and African drumming performances. The estate has accessible amenities including washrooms and hydration stations.

What a wonderful way to honour our children’s much loved teddies!
