This Sunday, the O’Donnell Gardens St Kilda will celebrate St Patrick’s Day with music, games and lots and lots of green. From 10 am to 1pm it will be completely family friendly with exciting activities that will delight and entertain your children.
There will be live Irish music and Irish dancing as well as face painting and a potato and spoon race. Stalls will be selling Irish merchandise from gorgeous jewelry to traditional Aran sweaters.
The festival will also have a collection of food trucks dishing out Irish fare; sample hearty Irish stews, bacon and cabbage and freshly baked brown bread. To round off, buy your little one traditional Irish candy.
As well as being a fun, lively event, the St Patrick’s Day celebration will help your child better understand the vast collection of cultures Melbourne is home to. Celebrating others’ cultures helps children develop tolerance, respect as well as a sense of identity and rootedness.
The family event is completely free; find out more here.
