In Moonglade Studio this week, the children have been using all of their senses to connect with the world around them. During meal times they have been having discussions about what the food smells like, tastes like, feels like and looks like. This connection to the environment is very important as it encourages children to appreciate the things in their immediate environment and practice being in the present moment. Throughout the day, the educators will have sessions focused on mindfulness practices such as breathing, sitting quietly and clenching fists and muscles around the body and then relaxing them to feel how the physical body reacts when tense and when at ease. It also encourages children to think deeply about what their body is telling them and how they are feeling internally.
