The Department of Education has announced that from July 1st 2019 the childcare subsidy rates will change.

Income Test

The subsidy percentage is calculated based on a combination of factors including the annual combined family income. The revised thresholds can be found below:

While most of the thresholds remain the same, two have changed; an income threshold from $68,163 to below $173,163 will now have a 50% percentage while an income from $252,453 to below $342,453 will now have a 20% percentage.

Annual Cap

The annual subsidy cap is now $10,373 while the annual subsidy cap threshold is $188,163.

Hourly Rate Caps

The hourly rate caps vary depending on the service type. From 1st July 2019, the hourly rate caps will be as follows:

The childcare subsidy rates are revised each year with reference to the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
