Cafes across Melbourne serve delicious paninis, but do you know that they’re quite easy to whip up at home? A panini sandwich is a simply one made with toasted Italian bread; pick up a baguette or cibatta from your local baker. Have your little one help you with this simple breakfast panini recipe for a delicious family breakfast!

Ingredients:

3 tsp butter
1 large egg
Salt and pepper
2 slices cibatta or baguette bread
2 slices ham or salami
1 thick slice cheese (as per your preference)

Directions:

Beat the egg with a fork.
Melt one tablespoon of the butter in a saucepan and stir in the egg.
Scramble the egg for 1-2 minutes. Set aside.
Spread the remaining butter onto the two halves of bread.
Place the slice of cheese on one half of the bread.
Top with one slice of the ham or salami followed by the scrambled egg.
Add salt and pepper to taste.
Add the second slice of ham followed by the other slice of bread.
Serve and enjoy!
